Reacting to Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s rejection of the idea of an ‘independent Kashmir’, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah asked Hurriyat Conference leaders to explain what the last 30 years of turmoil was all about.
Will the Hurriyat leaders now boycott the Pakistan High Commission in the light of the Pak PM’s categorical statement, he asked.
“Here’s a question for the Hurriyat leaders in light of your PM’s categorical statement – what was the last 30 years of turmoil all about? Will you boycott the Pak High Commission now?” Mr Abdullah, who is the working president of National Conference (NC), wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Mr Abbasi on Monday rejected the idea of an “independent Kashmir”, saying it was not based on “reality”. “There is no support for the demand for independent Kashmir,” he claimed while addressing a conference ‘Future of Pakistan 2017’at the London School of Economics’ South Asia Centre in London.
